Fixing ePSXe Has Stopped Working Error on Windows 10

ePSXe is a PS2 simulator available for Windows and is often considered one of the best emulators available for Windows. However, some users (mainly Windows 10 users) reported that the program crashes every time they start the game and then receive the error message “ePSXe.exe has stopped working”.

The issue has not been fixed by more recent program fixes and is still available in the latest version. Some fairly successful methods have been mentioned by users who have worked with them in their case. Try them below and see if that solves your problem.

The causes of ePSXe.exe system errors are as follows:

  • Old or incompatible material;
  • Old software versions or incompatible software;
  • Virus attacks (Backdoor: Win32 / Wkysol.E) or other malicious programs;
  • Incorrect installation or removal of the program

Please check these solutions for EPSXE emulator issues on Windows 10. I had this problem and found a solution.

Run ePSXe as administrator

When running the emulator with an administrator, there are two options.

  • The problem will be solved
  • Or, you get another error message that says that you are missing a DLL file.

IF THE .DLL FILE IS MISSING, FOLLOW THE PROCEDURES BELOW.

  • Find the dll file online
  • Load DLL file
  • Unzip the downloaded file
  • Save it with ePSXe.exe in the ePSXe folder.

Note. The downloaded files may be infected with viruses or malware. Therefore, run a malware scan on the file before extracting.

Set CPU Overclocking to x1

This is probably the most popular method for solving this problem and is suggested in many forum posts and videos on the Internet. It can be used to easily fix an issue that occurs when the CPU overclocking option available in the application menu is set to a value greater than x1.

It is not known why this is installed by default, and many users have encountered a number of issues while fixing this issue. However, the method is known. So be sure to try them.

  • Find the main ePSXe executable and double-click it to run. You can also find it in the Start Menu.
  • After opening the emulator window, click the “Options” button in the menu bar and use the mouse to navigate to the item “Overclocking”.
  • Be sure to check the x1 option by clicking on it. Check if the problem persists!

Hope the solutions work for you.
